2025

The first day of kindergarten for my oldest daughter was sad and happy all mixed together. She was eager to be a big school girl, and I was excited to watch her grow and learn. Still, I couldn't believe my baby was going to school everyday! It didn't take long to hear that this was going to be the class of 2025 when they finished up high school. 2025! How futuristic! It seemed so far away!

But here we are! We have made it to this point and the count down to May 23rd is on.

This will be a year of big change! Yes every year comes with changes and unknowns, but this year we know one thing will happen, there will be changes with a high school graduate.

I have chosen "Change" as the family word for the year. We need to focus on the positive impact of changes and decide to make beneficial changes in ourselves as well. Life as we currently know it as a family will change drastically, but it can be a happy time. We also need to change as individuals as well. Make a plan on ways to improve our daily lives, steps to plan for the future, actions to take to complete our mission, and implement needed changes to show more joy. Our decision making process can be torture in our household, and there are a lot of extra life changing decisions that need to be made in the coming months. We seem to unnecessarily worry and agonize about decisions and outcomes, instead of trusting in the Lord to lead, guide and direct us. Seeking His will can be hard, but I feel like we make it harder by second guessing every decision. Praying can be easy, but the being still and listening can be be hard. In 2025 I challenge our family to change this habit!

So as we enter this year with a mixture of happy and sad just like that first week of kindergarten, we are looking forward to the changes. We are nervous but also excited. Happy for a new chapter, but thankful for the wonderful one that is ending. Grateful for the good teachers, awesome sports team, fun clubs and even the high school drama that will make us stronger. We don't know exactly where she's headed after May 23rd, but we know our Creator knows, and He has a great plan written out. We will adapt with the changes and be ready to be used by Him wherever He leads!
